A Midsummer Night's Dream at The Roman Theatre
The Roman Theatre
Fri 27th June 2025 - Sun 13th July 2025
This musical adaptation of The Dream will transport audiences to the glittering, hustling, hip-swivelling age of classic disco!
In the beige 1970s in a down-at-heel working men's club in northern England, pot washer Nick Bottom dreams of a music career. Meanwhile, Mia, Helen, Dean and Andy are snogging, drinking, fighting, and arguing, much to the disapproval of their parents.
Until... a mystical figure appears and they're all transported to a dream world where an enchanted palace offers games of music, dreams, and fantasy. But will Nick find his voice, and will the lovers find a partner before the music stops?
This hugely entertaining, musical re-mix of Shakespeare's evergreen romantic comedy features some of the best dance music ever produced,... Read more

And what's the play about? Well - a group of soldiers return from the war to a household in Messina, kindling new love interests and re-kindling old rivalries. The parallel love stories of Beatrice, Benedick, Claudio and Hero quickly become entangled with scheming,... Read more

So when they wake up lost and confused in the heart of the enchanted forest one day, it's no surprise they even disagree about how they came to be there! But with only a trail of breadcrumbs to guide them home, they'll have to put aside their differences once and for all to solve the mystery of how they got there and make it home in time for tea!
