During the school holidays, we run 'Family Fun' events across Hertfordshire - where we welcome little ones 0-5 years, and their siblings up to 8 years, to come along and take part in fun activities. It's a great way to meet other local parents and carers, take part in activities and also somewhere to visit that doesn't break the bank!

We only charge £2.50 for the whole family and they usually last for about 1.5 hours.

This half term we are opening the gates to our very own pumpkin patch at Tewin Water.

Around the reserve there are fact files of different types of fungi that you can find in the UK, use your trail sheet to collect answers about them and help us learn all about the fascinating world of fungi. Our magical school timetable has been scrambled up by playful witches and cheeky woodland ghosts! They've mixed up all the lessons, and now we need your help to put things right.

As you journey through the meadow and woodland, look out for each lesson along the trail. Can you spot the lesson and work out which class it belongs to?

At every location, write down the spooky lesson on your trail sheet and match to the correct class to help restore order to our school of magic. As you follow the trail, use your 3D classes to reveal a secret hidden letter. The letters will spell out a magic word. Return to the Mill shop and speak the magic word to stop the mischievous witches and ghosts mixing up the lessons again.

Get up close to our wonderful specimens as you discover the different owls that live here in the UK. Explore what small rodents these nocturnal predators like to snack on, and discover the important role this food web plays in nature. Plus, find out what you can do to help nature at home.

Then it's time for little ones to have a hoot creating their very own owl mask. Will they choose to be bold and bright or secretive and camouflaged?

Looking for some thing different to do this Halloween?

What about picking your pumpkin while in the company of our cheeky goats!

Spend some time in our pumpkin field, choose your pumpkin to take home and carve as well as spending some fun time with our cheeky goats. Under the guidance of our animal keepers you will be introduced to some of our goats including Gary, Bertie, Billy, and even some of our babies that were born in the spring.

The activity lasts for approximately 20 minutes

Our magical school timetable has been scrambled up by playful witches and cheeky woodland ghosts! They've mixed up all the lessons, and now we need your help to put things right.

As you journey through the meadow and woodland, look out for each lesson along the trail. Can you spot the lesson and work out which class it belongs to?

At every location, write down the spooky lesson on your trail sheet and match to the correct class to help restore order to our school of magic. As you follow the trail, use your 3D classes to reveal a secret hidden letter. The letters will spell out a magic word. Return to the Mill shop and speak the magic word to stop the mischievous witches and ghosts mixing up the lessons again.

Willows Fireworks are back with a fizz, pop and a very low bang!

Join us on 1st or 2nd November as we light up the sky above the farm and enjoy an evening of crackling good fun.
Gates open at 5.15pm with a programme of Willows fun for the little ones to enjoy. The fireworks will then start at 6.30pm.

This half term we are opening the gates to our very own pumpkin patch at Tewin Water.

Four days only from Wednesday 29 October to Saturday 1 November.

Wander the fields. Pick your pumpkin. Then warm up with street food from our favourite trucks and a drink from the bar. Autumn cocktails hot chocolate, something stronger if you fancy it.

On Friday it is Halloween. Dress up if you like. We would love to see it.

Think boots you don't mind getting muddy and a phone ready for photos.

Spend the day outside with friends and family, take the perfect pumpkin home.

Tickets are £8 per person under twos go free.

This October half term, experience Poppy Fields by Luxmuralis, an immersive journey of light and sound reflecting on the World Wars
and hopes for peace. Stunning projections and evocative music will transform the Cathedral into a moving work of art.

Our magical school timetable has been scrambled up by playful witches and cheeky woodland ghosts! They've mixed up all the lessons, and now we need your help to put things right.

As you journey through the meadow and woodland, look out for each lesson along the trail. Can you spot the lesson and work out which class it belongs to?

At every location, write down the spooky lesson on your trail sheet and match to the correct class to help restore order to our school of magic. As you follow the trail, use your 3D classes to reveal a secret hidden letter. The letters will spell out a magic word. Return to the Mill shop and speak the magic word to stop the mischievous witches and ghosts mixing up the lessons again.

In October Half Term, take part in pond dipping at RSPB Rye Meads! Discover the creatures lurking in the hidden depths of the waters - from the tiny water flea to the mighty dragonfly nymph, the ponds of Rye Meads are full of a variety of amazing animals!

Available from 10am-4pm. No need to book, just turn up on the day!

All pond dipping equipment is provided for £4.50 per kit, and your pond dipping session will last approximately 25 minutes.

October is the perfect time to see fungi when you're out and about, and we need your help to research it! Around the reserve there are fact files of different types of fungi that you can find in the UK, use your trail sheet to collect answers about them and help us learn all about the fascinating world of fungi. When you're finished, have a go at designing your own fungus and then take your trail sheet home and continue your research further.

Suitable for the whole family, this trail will take you around the reserve (up to the Kingfisher hub) with stations to stop at to answer questions. The reserve is fully accessible with toilets, car park and café lite (for snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice cream).

Did you know that Barn Owls can't digest the fur and bones of the rodents they eat, which they usually swallow whole?

So what happens to them if they aren't digested? The Owl has to regurgitate it in the form of an Owl pellet. You often find Owl pellets at roosting or nesting sites and they are usually the size of a mans thumb and are black when fresh (turning grey as they get older), and an Owl can produce 1-2 pellets after a night's hunting. Owl pellets can be a really good way of finding out what an Owl has been eating by dissecting them and analysing what bones are in them. Willows Fireworks are back with a fizz, pop and a very low bang!

Join us on 1st or 2nd November as we light up the sky above the farm and enjoy an evening of crackling good fun.
Gates open at 5.15pm with a programme of Willows fun for the little ones to enjoy. The fireworks will then start at 6.30pm.

All of our animals will be moved away from the firework area and will be looked after by our fabulous Livestock Team during the event.
