The Society, run by volunteers, without any governmental grant or subsidy, has over 440 members, a 1,000-page website, operates the Harpenden Museum in the Eric Morecambe Centre Morecambe Centre, and holds monthly lectures on subjects of local historical interest given by local people. Membership is open to all at £15 a year single; £20 joint.
Monthly lectures take place in the High Street Methodist Church in Harpenden and are free to members and students. Visitors are also welcome - £5 donation requested.
